What is Orientation?
Clinton Institute helps overseas students adjust to studying and living in Australia by providing a culturally appropriate orientation program. All students are required to attend orientation one week before their course starts. Incoming students will receive an orientation invitation email when the date is close.
Students must bring their original passport and Confirmation of Enrolment (COE) on the day of orientation, which typically begins at 9:00 AM on a Monday at the following campus locations:
- • Melbourne Campus: Level 9, 313 La Trobe Street, Melbourne VIC 3000
- • Hobart Campus: Level 4, 169 Liverpool Street, Hobart TAS 7000
Orientation Activities:
During orientation, students will receive important information, including:
- • LLN (Language Literacy and Numeracy) Assessment: All students must complete this test before their course begins. It helps us determine if you need additional support during your studies. If the test shows a significant gap in your English skills, we may refer you for extra language training before starting your course.
- • Student Information Update: We will collect and confirm your personal details to ensure efficient communication. Once confirmed, your student portal will be activated.
- • Student Support Introduction: You’ll be introduced to both external support available in Melbourne and internal campus services. This includes details on course progress, attendance, privacy, student code of conduct, and the complaints and appeals process.
We will also provide information on:
- • Support services for adjusting to life in Australia.
- • English language and study assistance programs.
- • Relevant legal services.
- • Emergency and health services.
- • Campus facilities and resources.
- • Requirements for course attendance and progress.
- • Support for personal or general issues affecting your education.
- • Employment rights, workplace conditions, and how to resolve issues through the Fair Work Ombudsman.
- • Course-specific requirements, such as timetables and work placements.
If You Can't Attend Orientation:
If you are unable to attend orientation due to a visa delay, you have two options, but you must inform us before the course start date:
Option 1: Deferring Enrolment
You can defer your enrolment and join a later intake. To do this, complete the
deferral application form and send it to admission@clinton.edu.au.
Once processed, you’ll receive a new offer letter with the updated intake date.
An administration fee may apply unless the application is completed before the course start date.
Prepaid tuition fees can be transferred to the new intake
Option 2: Withdrawing Enrolment
You may withdraw your enrolment and submit a new application for a future intake. Before deciding, please review the
Deferral, Suspension and Cancellation Policy , as well as the
Fees and Refunds Policy . To formally withdraw, complete the Student
Student Withdrawal Form and Student Refund Application Form
and send them to admission@clinton.edu.au.
If you fail to attend orientation and do not update your status before the intake date, Clinton Institute may issue an intention to cancel your enrolment due to non-commencement of studies. This will lead to a report to the Department of Home Affairs (DHA), and your student visa may be cancelled.
